In a now-viral LinkedIn post, a man shared why he left Mumbai and returned to Delhi in under 100 days.

In his post, Deshav said he is often asked, “Why did you come back to Delhi from Mumbai?” He noted that the question has followed him for weeks, with people jokingly suggesting, “Didn’t you like Mumbai? Couldn’t make friends? Missing your imaginary girlfriend in Delhi?”

Explaining his decision, he wrote, “After spending around 100 days in Mumbai, I chose to move back to Delhi. And the truth is, it wasn’t about friends, the language, or even the city itself.”

He shared that the idea of moving to a new city for his career had initially excited him, as it felt like a way to step out of his comfort zone. “But looking back, that logic wasn’t the best,” he admitted.

Deshav shared, “People often romanticize the idea of leaving your comfort zone. We’re told that real growth only happens when you do that. And yes, sometimes that’s true. But I’ve come to realize that growth doesn’t mean being uncomfortable all the time. At this stage in my career, it’s actually my comfort zone that’s helping me grow more effectively.”

For him, Delhi offered the stability he was looking for. “It’s not that Mumbai isn’t incredible — it really is. But my journey required a foundation where I could focus, build, and grow without constantly struggling with everything outside of work. So, I came back — and I’m glad I did.”

Reflecting on his experience, he concluded, “The comfort zone isn’t always the enemy. Sometimes, it’s the soil you need to grow deeper roots before branching out again. I’m sharing this in case it helps someone else make a more thoughtful decision.”

LinkedIn users filled the comments section with supportive messages. “So true — it’s also about being in a place where you can focus on yourself and find peace within,” one user wrote.

Another user commented, “Completely agree with you. It’s important to understand what works best for you, whether it’s within your comfort zone or not. Glad you made the right choice for yourself.” Someone else simply said, “Welcome back, brother.”

Sometimes, the journey doesn’t call for stepping out of your comfort zone.
