Actor-Politician Vijay Announces ₹20 Lakh Compensation for Each Victim of Karur Stampede; ₹2 Lakh Aid for InjuredTamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-politician Vijay has announced ₹20 lakh compensation for the families of each of the 39 people who lost their lives in the tragic stampede at his rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, last evening. He also committed ₹2 lakh in financial assistance for each of the nearly 100 people injured in the incident.

In a heartfelt message shared via his party’s official handle on X, the 51-year-old expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy.“I am overwhelmed by grief. I am at a loss for words to express the pain my heart endures. My eyes and mind are clouded with sorrow. The faces of all of you whom I have met keep flashing through my mind. The more I think of my loved ones who show affection and care, the more my heart slips further from its place,” he wrote.

With indescribable pain, I extend my deepest condolences to those mourning the loss of our beloved ones. I stand with you in this unbearable sorrow—it is an irreparable loss for all of us. No words can ease the pain of losing someone we love. As a member of your family, I will provide ₹20 lakh to each bereaved family and ₹2 lakh to those injured and undergoing treatment,” said TVK chief Vijay, who is preparing for his political debut in the upcoming Assembly elections.

“No amount can truly compensate for such a profound loss. Yet, as someone who considers himself part of your family, it is my heartfelt duty to stand by you in this moment of grief. I pray for the swift recovery of all our loved ones who are injured and receiving treatment. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will continue to provide unwavering support to them during this difficult time. With God’s grace, let us find the strength to heal and move forward together,” he said.

Earlier, the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin, announced ₹10 lakh in compensation for the families of those who died and ₹1 lakh for each of the injured. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each victim, and ₹50,000 for those injured, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
